Goldfish Program

Every great Flyer starts somewhere, and for many of our youngest swimmers, that's Goldfish. Designed for kids who can already swim a little but aren't quite ready to make it across the pool on their own, Goldfish runs alongside our 8 & under practice and gives our newest swimmers five weeks of focused coaching to build the skills and confidence they need to join the lanes.

The goal is to get your swimmer across the pool by the end of the five weeks. If they're close when the program wraps up, we'll help you find a coach for private lessons so they can keep working at it, and once they make it across, they'll join the team for the rest of the season.

FAQs

Who is it for?

Goldfish is for swimmers 8 & under who can already swim a little on their own but aren't yet able to make it across the pool. It is not a learn-to-swim program and is not designed for children who are brand new to the water. If your child is just starting out and isn't yet swimming independently, private lessons or a local rec center program is the right first step, and we'd love to welcome them to the team once they're ready.

When does it run?

Goldfish runs for five weeks.

The 2025-26 dates run from May 26 through June 26.

What time does it meet?

Goldfish meets during our 8 & under practice. The time shifts when practice moves from afternoons to mornings.

The 2025-26 Dates are as follows:

  • May 26 through June 10 (afternoons): 5:45 to 6:15 PM
  • June 11 through June 26 (mornings): 9:00 to 9:45 AM

How much does it cost?

Goldfish swimmers are part of the team, so the cost is the same as swim team. Team fees are $125 for the first swimmer ($115 plus a one-time $10 family concession fee), with a $5 discount per additional sibling.

What happens if my swimmer isn't ready for the lanes after five weeks?

If they're close when the program wraps up, we'll help you find a coach for private lessons so they can keep working at it. Once they make it across the pool before the season ends, they'll join the team to swim with their group.

Do Goldfish families have a volunteer requirement?

Goldfish-only families are exempt from the volunteer commitment. However, if a Goldfish swimmer enters a meet, the family does need to fulfill the volunteer requirement like all competing families.
