FC Flyers - Last Week Before Our 1st Meet - Please Read
Last Week Before the First Meet!!!
Time is Flying and so are our Flyers -- in the water! We have several updates as we turn to morning practice and our first meet.
Announcements:
1. Meet Volunteers:
Our meets literally would not happen if it weren’t for volunteers. Sign up for our first meet begins tomorrow (6/11) morning at 8am. If you navigate to the SwimTopia calendar and select the meet on 6/17, you will see the Job Sign Up button in green. You will then see all the positions available. If you have and questions please reach out to our volunteer coordinator, Stephanie Harboe at 360-951-9244 or [email protected].
2. Swimmer T-Shirts and Swim Caps:
Swimmers who signed up on or before 5/28 can pick up their shirts TODAY (6/10) at the pool during practice. Evie will also have team swim caps for $15 each. If you are out of town, please work with Evie to find time to pick up the shirt. Worse case we will also have them at the first meet during warmups.
3. Swim Buddies:
Swim buddy pairs are ready for the 2024 season. We will post the pairs at practices all this week, so look for the lists and hang out at practices to catch your buddy.
We will provide swimmer profile pages to help families share information about each other and even which meets they plan to attend.
At this time, the Goldfish swimmers have not been paired with a buddy. Once they are cleared for competition we will adjust the pairs and assign a buddy. These changes will be the only changes made to the pairs. Questions please contact Adrienne Thornblom [email protected]
Please keep in mind that the Swim Buddy system is meant to be a time to encourage each other and build a family atmosphere within the team. Snack and drink exchanges at meets are fun, but not required, and shouldn’t be the core purpose of your swim buddy. Here are things you absolutely should do with your buddy:
- Learn each other's names! There is so much power in being known by name.
- Check for which events they do at meets and cheer them on.
- Help each other learn skills (especially an older and new swimmer).
- Check in with each other before or after practices if possible.
- Spend time with each other outside of meets. If you see each other at the pool or around the neighborhood take the opportunity to spend time together.
Remember, swim buddies is all about encouraging each other and cheering each other on. This is how the team becomes a family.
